Kid Charlamegne Solo

Hey Blues Fans,
One of the greatest guitar solos of all time is the one played by Larry Carlton in Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne”. It is definitely in my top ten. Every note in this solo is perfect; one can’t imagine any other notes being played. Here is my attempt to break it down for you. I did these in one take, so excuse the mistakes and lunar notes. I should also add that I used a Fender Strat, which is totally wrong; I think Larry Carlton used a Gibson 335, which has a completely different tone. However, I wanted a clean sound so you can hear the individual notes. I didn’t have time to tab this out, but I’m sure if you search the internet, you can find it.

While I can teach you the notes, I can’t teach you the feel. I highly suggest you listen to the MP3 for the timing and nuances.

To keep file sizes manageable, I broke this into two separate videos.

As usual, have fun with this classic.
