Larry Carlton Style Lesson – Slightly Dirty Groove

Hey Blues Fans,
Here’s a groove from Larry Carlton’s “Slightly Dirty” off the Sapphire Blue album. In this video, I recorded the guitar and voice separately. I’m still trying to work out the bugs, so please excuse the sound quality.

I transposed this lick down to the key of G. I believe the recording is in D, but don’t take my word for it.

Near the end of the video, I play the licks over a funk groove just to give you an idea how you can have some fun with it. I even stick in that Dixie Dregs groove I taught in an earlier lesson.

As always, have fun

Slowing down videos with Windows Media Player

Hey Blues Fans,
Here’s a quick tutorial on using windows media player to slow down videos so you can learn those fast licks.

This only works with WMV files. If, for example, you download a video from YouTube, you’ll need to convert it to a wmv file. If you search for FLV to WMV converter, you find a bunch of programs that can do this.

The only downside is that there isn’t a looping feature, so you’ll have to reset the position slider.

I hope this helps. I will do some more software tutorials in the future.

Keith Richards-style Licks

Hey Blues Fans,
Here’s a couple quick riffs and licks in the style of Keith Richards, ala Midnight Rambler. It’s a fun riff to play when you just want to screw around on a lazy Sunday afternoon…like me today.

Have fun.
