2nd Most Important Guitar Lick – Picking Pattern

Hey Blues Fans,
I’ve been getting lots of emails and messages about how to pick the 2nd Greatest Guitar Lick, which was one of my earlier videos that can be found here on the site. The first time through the lick, you’ll play the first three notes with all down strokes. The fourth and fifth notes are a hammer-on/pull-off that is not picked.

After the first time through, you’ll pick UP on the G-string, DOWN on the B-string, DOWN on the E-string, then HO/PO the B-string. This pattern gets repeated for the rest of the lick.

Take you time and build up speed.

As always, have fun.

P.S. I didn’t mention it in the video, but I’m playing this lick in the key of A, so I’m up at the 5th fret.

For me, positioning for the down-stroke slows me down. But that’s me. Whatever is more comfortable for you.

Why is it better to up-pick the g-string? Why isn’t all down-picking faster?

Could you make a TAB sheet of this lick.

    Thanks
