Slow Down Video and Add Loop Points
Hey Blues Fans,
Have you ever wanted to loop a section of a guitar lick AND slow it down without changing the pitch? I have found a nice FREEware utility that does just that. It’s called ALShow and you can download it from here. The thing I like the best is that it uses simple key commands to set the loop points and playback speed:
- To set the start of the loop, you press the [ key
- To set the end point you press the ] key.
- To remove the loop points, you press /.
- To slow the video you press Z.
- To speed it up you press C.
- Jump back 10 seconds by pressing the left arrow key <-
- Jump ahead 10 seconds by pressing the right arrow key ->

For freeware, this is a nice little utility and will be a nice addition to your guitar-learning toolbox. I have seen similar utilities, such as SloMoDirector, that cost $50. I can’t say if this is better or worse than commercial software, but I think it’ll do the trick for most players. I hope this helps you in your quest to become a better blues guitarist. Have fun.
